Stony Hills Trails Update
We always like an update from our mates down at Stony Hills, James Keane and the guys there know how to run a good scene. “Yo Mark, here’s a few fresh pics of Stoney, been busy gettin’ new lines in and piling up clay like crazy — it was only realy Henry and I for a while but now we’ve got some more help from Clinton, Ewok & Sam – he’s a chef so he’s always working haha a slave to the grill – so we’ve all been charging on the weekends over the past month and damn, having a five man crew really gets it done so much faster! Big ups to them, what’s funny though is no kids / youth help any more — only men over 25…” If your trails are currently bogged down for Winter, check what’s going on down at Stony (where it’s Summertime)…
What? The kids ain’t digging there? “…all the kids seem to be slackers around here and only ride concrete parks and street in Dunedin, or turn up an expect to be able to ride without helping out at all, pretty sad really cos I can so relate to what Janis (PA Woods) has to say about the trails scene in the USA… I’ve got at least another 10 years left in me if I’m clever about how I ride and dig. ie Slamming to flat is not an option any more and starting trails from scratch is also not an option! Thank god for Stoney Hills being 100% privatly owned by Henry, no stress worring about them getting plowed aye, oh yeah loving it!”
There’s more – check out the new irrigation system: “Henry dug in a whole new watering system of 50mm pipe from our pump (below) right thru the trails, then 20mm to maintain the pressure to avoid over working the pump, then tape fittings, so basically you can connect a hose and attach a sprinkler to the end if the hose and let there be water raining down upon any lip, landing, roller, berm or whatever it is that needs soaking or just wet down — so rad hearing the tick tick tick tick tick ticka ticka ticka ticka ticka thru the trails while ya working away on whatever, then moving the sprinklers around to other areas an gettin’ busy on what’s just got soaked! Love it!”
