Name: Alexander William Boyd.
Hometown: Burnham-on-Sea in the county of the gods (aka Somerset)
Local Trails: Vinewood
Years Riding: 7
Years Diggin’: 7
Job: Stonemason and woods manager
Ambition: Travel the world, with my craft and bike, visiting all the trails along the way, meeting new faces, seeing places, seeing what else is out there on this planet!
Last But Not Least…
1: What was the last thing you did today before answering this lot?
Just checked Facebook – slight addict haha – before that I was at work all day, made a bit of a window – I’ll spare the tech jargon! Basically a corner piece, and a little bit of coping, goes on top of a wall!
2: Where did you ride your bike last?
I think it was 9th Street or the T1 ramp… like a few weeks ago, I’ve been mega busy!
3: What was the last new trick you learnt?
One foot table seat grab.
4: When did you last build up a new bike?
Well, I pretty much suck at anything to do with bikes, I partially built my old bike up like last year, but my good friend Richard Packer – Vinewood caretaker – offered to build my new ride up whilst I was away! So I couldn’t turn that down. I am mega psyched on my new bike though.
5: What was the last album you bought?
I bought two today, Waves & Gold Panda.
6: What was the last book you read?
I bought this sweet book a while back, called Lost Crafts and it describes in detail loads of old crafts and trades and explains how to do them, everything from tree felling, to wattle and daub to foraging for wild food! I never sit down and have a solid read though, it’s always a 10 minute jobby.
7: What was the last BMX video you watched?
Anthem 2, and Catty Woods Ten Year.
8: What was the last city you visited?
Leicester – I was at the World-skills Team Selection competition for stonemasonry… you’ll have to Google that one!
9: When, and where, were you last genuinely lost on your travels?
Haha hmm, I don’t have a satnav, so I’m always getting lost whenever I venture somewhere, I like it that way though, it’s more of an adventure, and you see cool stuff you wouldn’t usually see. I guess in NYC last year, three of us decided to ride and explore the Big Apple all through the night, we were just blasting through the streets, dodging traffic, we were hella lost, but we just kept riding until we came to the sea.
10: What was your last meal?
Chinese, hell yeah!
11: What was the last great gadget or invention that you saw or bought?
I was watching TV for the second time this year the other night and The Apprentice was on, there was this pretty rad bean bag cushion, that when you shook it down it turned into a bean bag bed, would be great for campouts! Other than that it’s gotta be the George Foreman Trails Finder.
12: When was the last time you scared yourself?
Doing a twist train with Jimmy at his woods, it was the biggest jump I’ve twisted and I was scared of going underneath him! If you seen that guy ride you’ll understand!
13: Where is the last place on earth you want to visit?
Any public skatepark with a school near it. Hell.
